Sleep Schedule

    7 Month Old Sleep Schedule

Seven months often brings the 3 to 2 nap transition. This can be tricky because wake windows need to stretch, but baby isn't quite ready for long awake periods yet. Go slow, use early bedtimes as a crutch, and expect some bumps. Most babies fully consolidate to 2 naps by 8-9 months.

    Common Challenges at 7 Months

    • 3 to 2 nap transition — one of the trickier schedule changes
    • Overtiredness during transition can cause more night waking
    • Increased mobility (crawling, pulling up) means more practice in the crib

    Tips for Success

    • Signs of readiness for 2 naps: fighting the 3rd nap, naps extending, bedtime battles
    • Use an "early" bedtime (even 6pm) during the transition to prevent overtiredness
    • Transition gradually by capping the 3rd nap, then eliminating it
    • Expect 1-2 weeks of adjustment before the new schedule feels comfortable
