Contraction Timer by Nestling — Privacy Policy

TL;DR

• Your labor-session history stays on this device. Version 1.0.17 does not send new contraction or session records to iCloud.
• We do not sell your data, ever. We do not train AI on your data. We do not share it with advertisers.
• Partner-share links are temporary tokens that expire within 48 hours and you can revoke at any time.
• The iOS app uses PostHog for pseudonymous product events and Sentry for diagnostics. You can opt out of app analytics in Settings.
• The Labor partner-share viewer, invite and referral links, handoff fallback, and baby-arrived page do not run third-party analytics or session replay. Ordinary Labor information pages use the same cookie-free, session-free website analytics as the rest of trynestling.com, which you can turn off with “Analytics preferences.”

What we collect

Data you create in the app

Data we collect about app usage

• PostHog: pseudonymous app events (for example, that a session started or that the app displayed a 5-1-1 timing-pattern summary) and a per-install identifier. These events do not include individual contraction timestamps, durations, intervals, intensity, notes, contraction counts, name, or email. PostHog also processes the connection IP address and derives approximate location, such as country or city, for audience analytics. This information is associated with the app-event identifier.
• Sentry: crash reports, performance information, and diagnostic logs associated with a persistent installation identifier. Disabling default personal-information collection does not make these reports anonymous.
• RevenueCat: an app-user identifier and App Store receipt information used only to preserve a legacy Forever Unlock entitlement. The product is no longer sold in the app.

In version 1.0.17, you can opt out of PostHog analytics at Settings → Privacy → Usage analytics. Older versions label this control “Anonymous analytics.” This setting does not disable Sentry diagnostics.

Data we do not collect

• Your name, email address, or phone number unless you contact support.
• GPS or precise device location. We do not request location permission; IP-derived approximate location is described above.
• Data from Apple Health.
• Your contacts, photos, or microphone.
• Advertising profiles or cross-company tracking data.

Third parties we share data with

We use the following service providers. Their involvement depends on the feature you use and the permissions or settings you choose.

• Apple — App Store download and legacy purchase records managed by Apple; Apple AdServices attribution responses used to understand download sources
• RevenueCat — pseudonymous app-user ID and legacy IAP receipt information
• PostHog — pseudonymous app events and identifiers, including handoff correlation identifiers when you choose the Nestling handoff
• Sentry — crash reports, diagnostic logs
• Supabase — when you create a partner-share link, its token and a limited live summary: contraction lengths, gaps, count, current status, and whether the 5-1-1 timing pattern was shown

In version 1.0.17, when app usage analytics are enabled, the app sends an Apple AdServices attribution token through our Supabase endpoint to Apple. The app uses the response to distinguish Apple Ads attribution from unmatched or unavailable attribution, and sends validated campaign information to PostHog. Sandbox results are excluded from acquisition events; a recheck of an older install is not counted as a new acquisition. This does not enable advertising in the app or cross-company tracking. We do not use your data to train AI.

On-device storage and older iCloud copies

Version 1.0.17 stores new labor-session records only on this device and does not access Apple Health. Versions released before 1.0.17 could sync records to your private iCloud/CloudKit database when iCloud was available. Removing that sync from the current app does not itself erase a private copy already held by Apple. You can review or delete any legacy app data through your Apple Account's iCloud storage controls.

Cross-app handoff with Nestling (the baby tracker)

When you tap Baby Arrived in Nestling Labor, you can choose to hand off to Nestling, our baby-tracker app. That handoff:

• Version 1.0.17 attempts to open the Nestling app using a Universal Link with an independent, random handoff correlation identifier. It does not send your labor-session UUID or import your contraction history into Nestling.
• If the native app cannot open, Labor offers the App Store route. If that also cannot open, its public web fallback contains only src=labor, not session or correlation identifiers.
• The App Store fallback may place the random correlation identifier in a local-only clipboard marker that expires after two hours, so Nestling can recognize the handoff if you open it.
• Opening Nestling takes you to its home screen. It is not confirmation of an install, imported history, or a new care-log entry.

These are pseudonymous identifiers, not your name or contact information. The correlation identifier supports handoff recognition and product analytics; it does not contain clinical values. Older Labor versions may also include a session UUID. The public web fallback does not send these identifiers to third-party analytics or retain them in browser storage.

You can decline the handoff. Nestling Labor still records "Baby Arrived" locally regardless.

Partner Share (live labor link)

If you create a Partner Share link, Nestling Labor sends a limited, live summary of your active labor session to our server so anyone you give the link to can follow along on a web page. What's shared:

• Contraction timing only — lengths, gaps, count, and 5-1-1 status
• No name or contact details, and none of your notes

Each link is a long, unguessable token, expires automatically after 48 hours, and you can revoke any link at any time from Timer → Partner share → Active links, which immediately stops sharing. Links are off by default — sharing only happens when you create one. We don't sell this data or use it for advertising.

Data retention + deletion

• Session data on this device: delete individual contraction entries from History, or delete the app to remove its complete local store. Export anything you want to keep first.
• Legacy private iCloud data: older app versions may have left a copy controlled by Apple; manage it separately in your Apple Account's iCloud storage settings
• Partner-share access: stops immediately when you revoke a link and automatically no later than 48 hours after creation
• Partner-share server records: an hourly cleanup removes expired or revoked links and live summaries that no longer have an active link, so deletion occurs within 24 hours after revocation or expiry
• App analytics and crash reports: retained according to our configured PostHog and Sentry retention periods
• Legacy IAP receipt information: retained as needed to preserve a non-expiring Forever Unlock entitlement

To request deletion outside the normal partner-share, analytics, or diagnostics retention windows, email support@trynestling.com with subject "Privacy request — delete my data."

Children + medical context

Nestling Labor is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 13.

It is not a medical device, is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any condition, and does not provide medical advice. The App cannot and does not detect the onset of labor, complications, or any emergency. Timing patterns such as 5-1-1 are general informational references, not instructions or recommendations. Never disregard professional medical advice or delay seeking it because of something in this App. In an emergency, call your healthcare provider or your local emergency number (911 in the U.S.) immediately. You assume all risk for any decision made while using the App. See the medical disclaimer for full language.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or restrict processing of your data. You control local history on your device and any legacy private iCloud data through Apple's controls. For analytics or partner-share data, email support@trynestling.com. We respond as required by applicable law.

Changes to this policy

If we make material changes we'll update the "last updated" date at the top of this page and, for significant changes, surface an in-app notice the next time you open the app.
